Roma Città Natale 2010
The first Christmas of Roma Capitale lights up the city through culture, solidarity, art and entertainment. From December 20, 2010 to January 9, 2011, the city offers to citizens and visitors a special festival called “Roma Città Natale. Una Festa unica al Mondo”, a variety of public and private events, under a single institutional framework, to enjoy the best the city has to offer during the Christmas holidays.
ROMA CITTÀ NATALE. UNA FESTA UNICA AL MONDO is a project promoted by Roma Capitale in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and Acea, with the support of Finmeccanica, and the organization of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
From December 20, 2010 to January 9, 2011 the whole city will be animated by lights, trees, nativity scenes, music, theatre, dance, gospels and traditional songs, art, exhibitions, literature and poetry, and solidarity.
The third edition of NATALE DI SOLIDARIETA’, promoted by Roma Capitale, provides for the distribution of food to 50 parishes in the Roman suburbs, to families in difficulties, and many family homes. Each insititution will receive: 150 kg ofpasta, 60 kg of flour, 60 kg of sugar, 10 kg of coffee, 50 gallons of oil, 100 kg of tomatoes and 30 kg biscuits and sweets.
From December 18, 2010 to January 6, 2011, third edition of ROMA INSIEME 2010, collection of food, useful goods, and toys for children and disadvantaged people. Sponsored by Roma Capitale and conceived by Lavinia Mennuni, Delegate for Equal Opportunities, in collaboration with the Caritas of Rome, the Circolo S. Pietro, the Community of St. Egidio, Mo.DAVI - Provincial Federation of Roma Onlus, and the Association I Diritti Civili nel 2000 - Salvabebè/Salvamamme.
Other major events include the traditional concert Happy Christmas ... Rome (December 20) at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Ara Coeli, Aspettando il Natale Ortodosso (waiting for the Orthodox Christmas) featuring Isabella Russinova (December 20), the Neri per Caso in concert at Ponte Milvio Christmas (December 25). At the Capitoline Museums Iaia Forte in Not(t)e sotto l’albero (Jan. 8) and Massimo Wertmuller in In nome della madre (December 29). The actress Francesca Reggiani will be at the Sala Umberto (January 3), and Rossana Casale and Tosca will be the stars of the Christmas Concert at the Church of Santa Maria di Loreto in Trajan's Forum (January 5).
And for New Year's Eve, starting at 10.00 pm, a free concert on Via dei Fori Imperiali featuring Claudio Baglioni, sponsored by Roma Capitale in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and Acea, under the coordination of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
