C for Costantine

Educational visits, talks and conferences for the celebrations of the battle in 312 AD
On 28 October, 312 Constantine defeated Maxentius in the Battle of the Milvian Bridge: a day that marked an important date in the history of humankind.
According to his biographers, the day before Constantine had a vision of a cross in the sky heralded by message ”by this, win!” and in the night, during his sleep, the emperor was called by Christ to adorn their shields with that symbol in the upcoming battle.
The Edict of Milan in 313 AD put an end to ten years of persecution (began in 303 by Diocletian) and procalimed religious freedom in the Roman Empire. The Milvian Bridge has thus become a symbol of peace. 1700 years after the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, the City of Rome has dedicated its 2765th birthday a coin minted for the event.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali e Centro Storico - Sovraintendenza ai Beni Culturali di Roma Capitale, in collaboration with RAI Cinema presents a preview screening of the documentary "Costantino, imperatore d'Oriente e Occidente" which will be held on Sunday 28 October, at the Hall of Protomoteca (Palazzo Senatorio - Capitoline Hill) at 21:00 and 22:15. The Assessorato has also published a book entitled "“312 d.C. Un ponte tra antichità e Medioevo". Divided into 25 routes around the events and the historical sites in 312 AD, the publication opens with the genealogy of Constantine and Maxentius, leading the reader through a journey in the historical context and urban environment in which events took place,.
