Rome's Night of Museums is back on Saturday, May 17, 2014: museums and cultural spaces open to the public at night and hosting many events including art shows, music, dance, theatre, cinema, readings, guided tours.

Rome's Night of Museums is back on Saturday, May 17, 2014. A great European event, born in 2005 and hosted in more than 3,000 museums in 40 countries, is held in Rome for the sixth consecutive year with museums and cultural spaces open to the public in the evening, with exhibitions, concerts, dance performances, plays and readings.
With an entrance fee of € 1,00 only (civic and state museums and the archaeological sites, while other areas are free admission), citizens and tourists will enjoy an impressive event. Everyone will have a chance for the whole evening (until 2 AM in the civic museums and until 24 in state museums and other spaces) to visit all the temporary and permanent exhibitions housed in the museum and sites involved, visit extraordinary archaeological sites and places usually closed to the public, to attend concerts and other live performances hosted in unusual and fascinating cultural sites including, in addition to state and civic museums, private spaces, public libraries, academies and cultural institutions, foreign institutions and houses of culture, universities.
Among the many events scheduled for the night in Civic Museums and other cultural spaces of the City - selected through a public notice Notte dei Musei issued by Zètema Progetto Cultura – we would like to highlight the concert hosted at the Casa dell’ArchitetturaTRANSEUROPAE CONCERT ( 21.30 and 23:00) with Luigi Cinque (voice, live electronics, saxophones, clarinets, Galician gaita, douduk ) and Fausto Mesolella (guitars), the musical event LE CANZONI DI PASOLINI (at 21) at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni with Aisha Cerami, Nuccio Siano, Andrea Colocci ( bass), Roberto Marino (piano and arrangements), Salvatore Zambataro (accordion and clarinet), Piccola Banda Ikona in concert with IL SONG OF SABIR (20.30 – 21.30 – 22.30) at Centrale Montemartini with Barbara Eramo on vocals, Stefano Saletti on guitar, Gabriele Coen on saxophones and clarinet, the show OMAGGI D'ARTE held in Exedra of Marcus Aurelius in the Capitoline Museums from 20.30 with musical performances and readings dedicated to Pivano, Alda Merini, Goliarda Sapienza and Gabriella Ferri, the show spettacolo IN PIENO NEL MONDO. PALMA BUCARELLI with Marilu Meadows at the foyer of the MACRO Via Nizza (21.00, 22.00, 23.00) , the concert SUEÑO DE TANGO at the Galleria Alberto Sordi ( 21.00 - 22.30 - 24.00 ), which traces the history of tango with the Cuarteto Suerte Loca and dancers Pablo Moyano and Roberta Beccarini.
Many museums and exhibition spaces of Rome involved in the event, among which: MUSEI CAPITOLINI, CENTRALE MONTEMARTINI, CHIOSTRO DEL BRAMANTE, FORI IMPERIALI - FORO DI AUGUSTO, MACRO, MAXXI, MERCATI DI TRAIANO, MUSEI DI VILLA TORLONIA, MUSEO DELL'ARA PACIS, MUSEO DI ROMA IN TRASTEVERE, MUSEO DI ROMA PALAZZO BRASCHI, PALAZZO DELLE ESPOSIZIONI, MUSEO DELLE MURA, MUSEO NAPOLEONICO, MUSEO DELLA REPUBBLICA ROMANA E DELLA MEMORIA GARIBALDINA, MUSEO PIETRO CANONICA, MUSEO CARLO BILOTTI, MUSEO CIVICO DI ZOOLOGIA, MUSEO DI SCULTURA ANTICA GIOVANNI BARRACCO, PALAZZO SENATORIO, LA PELANDA, PROTOMOTECA.
Also open in the evening the COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE DEL VITTORIANO, in collaboration with Comunicare Organizzando, with the exhibition Musée D'Orsay. Masterpieces, and the SCUDERIE DEL QUIRINALE, where you can visit the exhibition Frida Kahlo, in collaboration with Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.
The MiBACT (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities) takes part in the Night of Museums in 2014 with the participation of several state museums that will be exceptionally open from 20 to 24 (last admission at 23). For the complete list of participating State museums see: www.beniculturali.it
