Various celebrities from the world of culture meet the public in museums, theatres, cinemas, libraries and other open spaces

Rome reborn from culture. After a long period of pandemic that has hit the cultural sector hard and from which it is only just beginning to come out, the capital is preparing to celebrate the new year with Roma Capodarte 2022.
Important names from the worlds of art, cinema, music, literature and theatre have responded to the appeal of the Mayor of Rome and have decided to generously offer the city their time and expertise to share the New Year with the public. They include Giovanni Allevi, Luca Barbareschi, Marco Bellocchio, Francesco Bruni, Andrea Carandini, Ascanio Celestini, Teresa Ciabatti, Stefano Di Battista, Paolo Di Paolo, Ilaria Gaspari, Raffaella Lebboroni, Loredana Lipperini, Giuliano Montaldo, Silvio Orlando, Daria Paoletta, Sandra Petrignani, Nicola Piovani, Christian Raimo, Lidia Ravera, Sergio Rubini, Vittorio Sgarbi, Paola Soriga, Claudio Strinati, Carola Susani and Mario Tozzi

On Saturday 1 January, from 15:00 visitors and spectators will be met in some fifty locations all over the city, including municipal libraries, municipal museums, theatres, cinemas and other cultural sites that have been opened for the occasion, such as the archaeological area of the Fori Imperiali, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Macro and the Auditorium Parco della Musica.

A New Year's Eve to start together, public, artists and operators in the world of culture, in presence and in safety, promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture with the coordination of the Department of Cultural Activities, in partnership with the Istituzione Biblioteche di Roma, the Capitoline Department of Cultural Heritage and institutions of Tavolo tecnico for the cultural contemporary production: Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Casa del Cinema, Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Fondazione Musica per Roma, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Associazione Teatro di Roma, as well as Nuovo Cinema Aquila, Cinema Troisi and Teatro Eliseo. Organiser support by Zètema Progetto Cultura.

Entrance is possible according to the current rules regarding Covid-19 control and containment measures.

MUSEUMS
The main areas of the Museum System of Rome will be open and free of charge from 14.00 to 20.00 (last entrance at 19.00), except for the Serra Moresca that closes at 17.00 (last entrance at 16.00). For Capodarte the main areas of the Museum System of Rome will host free meetings with important members of the world of art and culture, organised by the Capitoline Cultural Heritage Office. The event will start at 15.00 with Cesare Pietroiusti, who will be the main character of a meeting about the exhibition Materia Nova at the Modern Art Gallery. Following this, there will be an appointment at the Capitoline Museums with Vittorio Sgarbi's exceptional visit to the Hall of the Ferrara Painters ( 16:00), with the academic of the Lincei Alessandro Zuccari who will focus on Caravaggio (17:00) and with Michele Ainis, the main character of the meeting Rome and Europe (18:00).

In the centre of the ancient Rome, the archaeologist Andrea Carandini, inside the Mercati di Traiano, and the archaeologist Rita Paris, in the nearby archaeological area of the Fori Imperiali, are ready to meet the visitors at their respective appointments at 16:00 and 16:30.
For visitors who choose the Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi, two appointments are available: at 17.30 a meeting with art historian Claudio Strinati while at 18.30 historian Marina Formica talks about Roma Città di libertà.

The Serra Moresca at Villa Torlonia, with its tropical gardens and decorated glass windows, will host a talk by art historian and writer Costantino D'Orazio at 16:00.

At 17:00, the Centrale Montemartini will host a guided tour by the archaeologist and academic Giuliano Volpe, and at 17:00 the meeting with Patrizia Gioia will start at the Museo di Casal de' Pazzi.
At 18.30, a conference at the Ara Pacis Museum with the archaeologist and academic Eugenio La Rocca.

Among the open spaces there is also the Casa Museo Alberto Moravia that at 16.00, with the voice of Carola Susani, offers visitors readings from Moravia's texts L'uomo come fine e Diario Europeo.

Guided tours of the Museo della Repubblica Romana e della memoria garibaldina (16:00), the Museo di Roma in Trastevere (17:00), the Museo Civico di Zoologia (17:00), the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco (17:30) and the Museo Napoleonico (18:00) will complete the programme for the 1st of January.

- I Marmi Torlonia. Collezionare capolavori into the exhibition space of Villa Caffarelli at the Musei Capitolini requiring a reservation
